English Poem – I WISH I WERE BLIND

I Wish I Were Blind

I wish that I were blind,
So I’d not see the wicked ways of men,
Nor the cruelty they leave behind,
How ruthless they become again.

I’d not see the scars of pain,
Or sickness eating men alive,
A slow descent with nothing gained,
Where hope and joy no longer thrive.

I’d not see the righteous starve,
While the wicked feast and grow,
Nor see the virtues carved,
As evil spreads its shadowed glow.

I’d not see souls in despair,
Destroyed from within, decayed,
Nor see the innocent ensnared,
By blindness, lost and led astray.

I wouldn’t see men’s struggles rise,
As hardships tear their dreams apart,
Nor witness hope in silent cries,
As life wears down the heart.

I’d not see the sacrifice,
Wasted on hearts that turn to stone,
Nor see the righteous pay the price,
While the wicked claim the throne.

But if I were truly blind,
I’d miss the good men’s win,
After battles of every kind,
I’d miss the truth within.

There’s goodness in every life,
Even in this world of sin,
But if blindness were my guide,
I’d not see where hope begins.
